Jurnal Politique recognizes the growing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and scholarly publishing. The journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of such technologies while maintaining academic integrity, research originality, and author accountability.

The journal's generative AI policy is as follows:

  • Disclosure of AI Use: Authors must disclose the use of generative AI tools in preparing their manuscripts, including for writing, editing, translation, summarization, data analysis, or other substantive research-related tasks. The disclosure should identify the AI tool used and describe its purpose and scope of use.

  • Human Responsibility: Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of their manuscripts, including any content generated or modified with the assistance of AI tools. Authors must verify all AI-generated information, references, citations, data, and interpretations before submission.

  • AI as an Author: Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the research, approve the final manuscript, or fulfill the ethical and accountability requirements of authorship.

  • Originality and Plagiarism: AI-assisted content must not violate copyright, plagiarism standards, or other principles of academic integrity. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts appropriately acknowledge the work and ideas of others and do not contain fabricated references, misleading information, or unauthorized material.

  • Confidentiality in Peer Review: Editors and reviewers must not upload unpublished manuscripts, confidential research data, or other confidential editorial materials to generative AI tools or external platforms that may compromise confidentiality, unless such use is expressly authorized and adequate privacy and security protections are in place.

  • Editorial Use of AI: Editors may use AI-assisted tools for appropriate administrative or editorial support, provided that confidentiality, fairness, and editorial independence are maintained. AI tools must not replace the independent judgment of editors or qualified human reviewers in making editorial decisions.

  • Ethical Compliance: The use of generative AI must comply with applicable ethical standards, research integrity principles, copyright requirements, and the journal's other publication policies.

  • Editorial Assessment: The journal reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI tools. Manuscripts involving undisclosed or inappropriate AI use, fabricated information, plagiarism, or other ethical violations may be rejected or subjected to appropriate corrective action.

  • Scope of Disclosure: Routine spelling, grammar, and punctuation corrections generally do not require disclosure, unless the use of AI substantially changes the content or meaning of the manuscript. Authors should follow the journal's submission instructions regarding disclosure statements.

Jurnal Politique encourages the responsible use of generative AI as a supporting tool rather than a substitute for human scholarly judgment. The ultimate responsibility for the content, ethical standards, and scholarly contribution of every published article rests with its authors.
