Review Procedure
All manuscripts submitted to The Sunan Ampel Review of Political and Social Sciences (The SARPASS) are subject to a rigorous double-blind peer review to maintain academic quality and integrity. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process.
1. Desk Review
The Editorial Board first evaluates each submission for relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, originality, and adherence to author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned for revision or rejected.
2. Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the desk review are sent to at least two expert reviewers. The review process typically takes three weeks. Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, methodology, argumentation, and contribution to the field.
3. Reviewer Recommendations
Based on their evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following:
-
Accept (publish as submitted)
-
Minor Revisions (publishable after small corrections)
-
Major Revisions (requires substantial changes before reconsideration)
-
Reject (unsuitable for publication)
4. Revision Stage
Authors receive feedback and are required to revise accordingly:
-
Major revisions: three weeks to resubmit.
-
Minor revisions: one week to resubmit.
Revised manuscripts must include a response to reviewers’ comments.
5. Final Decision
The Editorial Board reviews the revised submission to confirm that all concerns have been addressed. If revisions remain inadequate, the manuscript may still be rejected.
6. Proofreading and Publication
Accepted manuscripts undergo professional proofreading for clarity and style. The final version is shared with authors for approval before online and print publication.
