Article Withdrawal
- Article Withdrawal
Article withdrawal applies only to Articles in Press, which are early versions of accepted manuscripts published online prior to final issue assignment. An article may be withdrawn if it contains significant errors, has been accidentally submitted or published more than once, or is found to violate the journal’s publication ethics, including duplicate submission, plagiarism, false authorship claims, unethical research practices, or fraudulent use of data.
When an article is withdrawn, its full text (PDF and HTML) will be removed from the journal’s website and replaced with a withdrawal notice stating that the article has been withdrawn in accordance with the JSI Article Withdrawal Policy. The withdrawal notice will remain permanently accessible in order to maintain transparency and preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.
- Article Retraction
Article retraction may occur when published work is found to involve serious ethical violations or substantial errors that invalidate the research findings or conclusions. Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to:
- Plagiarism
- Duplicate or multiple submissions
- Fabricated or falsified data
- False authorship or undisclosed contributors
- Ethical violations in research practices
- Manipulation of citations or peer review
- Other forms of academic misconduct
Retraction may also be issued to correct major errors that significantly affect the reliability, validity, or integrity of the published article.
In accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and international scholarly publishing standards, JSI applies the following retraction procedures:
- A retraction notice titled “Retraction: [Article Title]”, signed by the editor and/or author(s), will be published in a subsequent issue of the journal and included in the journal’s table of contents.
- The online version of the article will remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record, but it will be clearly identified as retracted.
- A retraction notice will appear before access to the article, and the PDF version may be watermarked with the word “Retracted” on each page.
- The HTML version of the article may be removed and replaced with a link directing readers to the official retraction notice.
- Article Removal (Legal Limitations)
In exceptional circumstances, an article may be removed from the journal’s online platform for legal or regulatory reasons. Removal will only occur when:
- The article is found to be defamatory or unlawful.
- The content infringes legal rights or intellectual property rights.
- The article is subject to a court order or legal restriction.
- The content poses a serious risk to public health, public safety, or social harmony.
In such cases, the bibliographic metadata of the article, including the title, author(s), publication details, and DOI (if applicable), will remain available for the scholarly record. However, the full text will be replaced with a notice explaining that the article has been removed for legal reasons.
- Article Replacement
Article replacement may occur when a published article contains serious errors that may significantly affect interpretation or create potential risks if relied upon, but where a corrected and reliable version of the article is available.
In such situations:
- The original article will be retracted.
- A revised and corrected version of the article will be republished.
- The replacement notice will clearly explain the reason for replacement and describe the revisions made.
- A link to the corrected article will be provided.
- The journal will maintain a transparent revision history to preserve accountability and scholarly integrity.
