1. Article Withdrawal
Article withdrawal applies only to Articles in Press, which are early versions of accepted manuscripts published online prior to final issue assignment. An article may be withdrawn if it contains significant errors, has been accidentally submitted or published more than once, or is found to violate the journal’s publication ethics, including duplicate submission, plagiarism, false authorship claims, or fraudulent use of data.
When an article is withdrawn, its full text (PDF and HTML) will be removed from the journal’s website and replaced with a withdrawal notice stating that the article has been withdrawn in accordance with the IJPS Article Withdrawal Policy. The notice will remain permanently accessible to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
2. Article Retraction
Article retraction may occur when published work is found to involve serious ethical violations or substantial errors that invalidate the research findings. Grounds for retraction include, but are not limited to, plagiarism, multiple submissions, fabricated or falsified data, false authorship claims, or other forms of research misconduct. Retraction may also be used to correct major errors that significantly affect the reliability of the article.
In accordance with best practices recommended by COPE and international publishing standards, IJPS applies the following retraction procedures:
3. Article Removal (Legal Limitations)
In exceptional circumstances, an article may be removed from the journal’s online platform for legal reasons. This action will only be taken when the article is clearly defamatory, infringes legal rights, is subject to a court order, or contains content that poses a serious risk to public health or safety.
In such cases, the article’s bibliographic information (including title and author(s)) will be retained, while the full text will be replaced with a notice stating that the article has been removed for legal reasons.
4. Article Replacement
Article replacement may occur when a published article contains serious errors that could pose a risk if acted upon, but where a corrected version is available. In such cases, the original article will be retracted and replaced with a revised and corrected version.
The retraction notice will include a link to the corrected article and provide a clear explanation of the changes made. A record of the article’s revision history will be maintained to ensure transparency and accountability.
Final Note
The Indonesian Journal of Political Studies (IJPS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. All decisions regarding withdrawal, retraction, removal, or replacement are made with careful consideration and in line with internationally recognized ethical guidelines.
