Selametan sebagai Tradisi Lokal Pedesaan Masyarakat Jawa

Artikel ini berupaya mengkaji ritual pedesaan Jawa-Islam yang disinyalir sinkretis dan dipraktekkan sejak ratusan tahun lamanya. Dengan fokus pada sosiologi pedesaan, selametan dipandang sebagai sumber keharmonisan social dan agama yang terpadu dalam ritual bersama. Analisis peneliti menunjukkan bahwa representasi selametan yang memiliki struktur yang identic dengan keyakinan ‘orang ndeso’. Asal usul ritual ini mulai mencuat kembali pada awal abad ke-19 dengan modifikasi Islam sebagai warna ‘Islam Keraton’. Namun, ritual ini tidak terdokumentasi dengan baik dalam studi-studi ilmiah, terutama dalam konteks sosiologi pedesaan yang mempunyai unsur kuat di dalam mendialogkan antara agama dengan tradisi lokal.Downloads
